travel united states montana butte
Butte is a fascinating historical mining town set on the side of a hill above the hiway.
To me, it retains a flavor of the old time adventure and rough and tumble mining days.
It is known as "The Gibraltar of Unionism" with a very active labor union movement that sought in counter the influence of the Anaconda mining company.
In 2015, I had the opportunity to spend a couple hours driving around looking at the old mines and buildings and taking photos.
